Junik Municipality in partnership with MUSPP (UNHABITAT) and CHwB and supported by the Institute of Spatial Planning (MESP) are drafting Junik Municipal Development Plan. The first chapter of MDP including the profile (study of existing situation) and Junik vision have been drafted and presented to the wider community and stakeholders for review.
The next steps of activities for this project were identifying goals and objectives and producing future development scenarios. In line with this, a workshop was held on Ohrid from 3rd November until 6th November 2009. Ohrid workshop gathered representatives from Junik Municipality, MUSPP team, Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning Institute of Spatial Planning, CHwB, civil society and business community as well as other relevant stakeholder for a three days intensive work.
On the first half of the workshop, participants were grouped according to themes and they analyzed the key objectives and goals of the MDP. Based on the challenges, each group identified goals and objectives for the theme. Groups presented their work on a plenary session in the end of the day.
The second half of the workshop focused on spatial scenario development. The attendees were organized into two larger groups producing two possible scenarios on Junik’s future spatial development. The development scenarios produced were presented graphically and orally and analyzed in depth.

Next steps within the project include devising an integrated development scenario from a smaller focus group and present the workshop findings to the wider community and stakeholders for review.
